We had two beloved directors (Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese) make films that reflect the past and how much it’s helped their careers. Bong Joon-Ho is breaking prescient by having his foreign language film (Parasite) be a front-runner for Best Picture.   Avengers: Endgame also became the highest-grossing film ever with a box office of $2.798 billion (take that Avatar). 2019 also gave us a last impression of what film is like in the 2010s.
