Another Die Hard rip-off hits Netflix
By Tom Pacak
"Die Hard" is the number one action movie of all time. There is not one action movie out there that hasn’t borrowed some plot point from "Die Hard." The film gave birth to several action movie clichés that we see on film. Whether it’s the unlikely hero with a rough family life, foreign terrorist group, and the hostages stuck in a building. Some examples are "Speed", which is "Die Hard" on a bus, "The Rock", which is "Die Hard" on an island, and White House Down/Olympus Has Fallen both, are "Die Hard" in the White House.
Now the "Workaholics" gang (Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine, and Anders Holm) have come with "Game Over, Man!" A "Die Hard" rip-off comedy with dick jokes. This film follows three loser maids Alexxx (Adam DeVine), Darren (Anders Holm), and Joel (Blake Anderson) working a dead end job to save money for a video game project. Darren and Joel despise Alexxx’s arrogance and bad ideas. They hate him so much they never even tell him about the video game project. The trio are rude, crude, and disrespectful to all of the residents staying at the hotel. The lecherous manager of the hotel (Daniel Stern) refuses to fire the boys due to a respected relationship they have.
Action starts to kick in once a group of terrorists take hostage of the hotel in a Die Hard-type fashion. The group is lead by Conrad (Neal McDonough) who trying to extort money from a spoiled Instagram famous model Bae Awadi (Utkarsh Ambudkar). Bae Awadi is the type of person who usually never shows angry emotions. He’s ego is so high he doesn’t even feel threatened when the antagonists force him to give a rim job to another male. The maids soon realize that the hotel is being taken and decide to fight the antagonists themselves.
Along the way they encounter a gay couple apart of the terrorist group, an African-American hacker who resembles the same hacker from "Die Hard", and a tough Russian terrorist who shows no mercy Emma (Rhona Mitra). The jokes in this film are some of the most disgusting and perverted humor imaginable. Whether it’s a castrated penis, jokes about autoerotic asphyxiation, or rim jobs. There is no redeemable quality about the film or its characters. The protagonists are unlikable and terrible role models, the antagonists are brutal and one dimensional, and even the side characters are just as corrupt and bad. Let me just point to how gross the character Mitch the manager is. This guy makes Donald Trump look like a guy a stand-out guy. Some of the jokes that Mitch brings to the movie are jokes about sexually harassing the assistant manager Cassie (Aya Cash). "Game Over, Man!" is a film that is inappropriate in every way. It has gory violence, dick jokes, and drug references. If this crude humor is your type, go for it! If not, you’ve been warned.
